Testing HTC Flyer Tablet

HTC launches its first tablet, HTC Flyer, for the Indonesian market on Thursday. Flyer is a seven-inch tablet which is used as the mainstay HTC to enter the tablet market that began heaving.

Flyer wearing seven-inch screen with a resolution of 1024 x 400 pixels. TFT touch screen sensitivity level of its continuing tradition of Android phones from HTC before, very smoothly.
In terms of form, reminds us of the latest Flyer Desire HD HTC introduced earlier this year. The backplate is slightly convex.
HTC wear metal framed single (unibody) silver color with white plastic material access in the upper and lower back.
HTC maintain touch buttons for menu, home, back, and buttons to activate the Magic Pen. These buttons are placed on two sides of the screen to stay on the bottom of the screen when the tablet is accessible on a horizontal or vertical position.

Unique technology is the Magic Pen, which is activated by a button at the bottom of the screen. These pens can be used to write anything on the screen, except when playing a video screen as they relate to licensing.

The result of the writing on the screen along with screen shots and then converted into an image file (jpg) and can be opened with an application called Evernote. Applications from third parties that have been embedded in the Flyer (pre-installed) is similar to Microsoft OneNote.

With a view like a little notebook, we can write anything and insert images or video in it. Images can be added while photographing or taken from an existing folder.

Then, while writing, we were able to record audio. This feature reminds me of a pen from Livescribe which can be used to write on paper while recording sound.

Flyer HTC is still using the Android operating system 2.3 aka Gingerbread. However, the interface is version 3.0 Sense HTC as HTC Sensation. The interface is more animatif and attractive than version 2.0.

The question is: why not use the HTC Android 3.0 or Honeycomb? Two new tablet that has been entered into Indonesia, that the Asus Eee and the Acer Iconia Transformer Pad had been taking tablets that particular operating system.

Darren Sng, Senior Director Product Marketing of HTC Asia, said HTC will support the Honeycomb. However, the company will make adjustments to the interface HTC Sense.

On this tablet, HTC is introducing several new services, such as HTC Watch, rental services and streaming movies and videos, HTC Listen to online music store service, and HTC's Read to buy and read electronic books.

Flyer uses Qualcomm's Snapdragon processor, which has a speed of 1.5 GHz but still single-core. The durability of the battery power is not as long as the iPad 2, which can be more than a day.
